Lovely second-hand frames

Still on the moon theme, I did these little paintings from gesso that was cut to fit some lovely frames I purchased second-hand. These metal frames were gold to start with, so I decided to spray these with black paint and am loving how they turned out. Will definitely be doing more of this in the future!

A little late in coming, but I thought I should post these work in progress photos of the last painting I completed. This one seemed to take forever I guess that was because there was a 4 week holiday in between!

Based on the harvest moon I also drew inspiration from Flemish paintings and the old masters of still life. I really enjoyed painting the fruit and rose in this one. Lots of colour and detail to get my teeth into:)

Prints are now available on my Society6 shop

Anyway, without further or do, here are the progress photos. Enjoy!

Art, art and more amazing art!

Riijksmuseum, Amsterdam
These images are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all the amazing art that I saw when we were on holidays, visiting Amsterdam, Bruges and Paris. Unbelievable! I feel so lucky to have seen so much, and feel so inspired! What was particularly interesting was a street art tour we did in Paris, walking for 3 hours mainly around the area of Belleville.

One of the highlights for me was "The Last Judgement" by Bosch (below). Absolutely mind-blowing stuff, especially when you consider the period of time that he was painting. There are so many (often disturbing) things going on, you could stand there for ages just piecing it all together!

Getting back to it!

It's been a bit quiet on my blog for a few weeks. I've just come back from the most amazing holiday through the Netherlands, Belgium, and France! Still coming back to reality and getting over the jetlag, but I may post some photos from my trip soon. Saw some incredible art on our journey.

Anyway, keen to get stuck back into this painting that I never completed before leaving. Here's where I finished off. Hope to finish her soon!
